WORLDS APART
Sometimes, there just isn't anything new to say. Someone somewhere has already said how you are feeling in a beautiful way, and so the best thing to do is fall silent, and let those words speak for themselves. The following are the lyrics of a song that I've come back to over and over again over the years, Jars of Clay's "Worlds Apart". Something about them touches the deepest part of my soul. I know that this blog is usually a place to keep dialogue going from what Troy speaks about on Sunday, but I don't know, this seems to be the only thing that I can think of to say. So, enjoy the poetry; get wrapped up by the mystery of the song. Maybe you want to share an important poem or song on here. By all means, let's be blessed by the words that others have been inspired to write.
"Worlds Apart"
I am the only one to blame for this
Somehow it all ends up the same
Soaring on the wings of selfish pride
I flew too high and like Icarus I collide
With a world I try so hard to leave behind
To rid myself of all but love
to give and die
To turn away and not become
Another nail to pierce the skin of one who loves
more deeply than the oceans,
more abundant than the tears
Of a world embracing every heartache
Can I be the one to sacrifice
Or grip the spear and watch the blood and water flow
(Chorus)
To love you - take my world apart
To need you - I am on my knees
To love you - take my world apart
To need you - broken on my knees
All said and done I stand alone
Amongst remains of a life I should not own
It takes all I am to believe
In the mercy that covers me
Did you really have to die for me?
All I am for all you are
Because what I need and what I believe are worlds apart
I look beyond the empty cross
forgetting what my life has cost
and wipe away the crimson stains
and dull the nails that still remain
More and more I need you now,
I owe you more each passing hour
the battle between grace and pride
I gave up not so long ago
So steal my heart and take the pain
and wash the feet and cleanse my pride
take the selfish, take the weak,
and all the things I cannot hide
take the beauty, take my tears
the sin-soaked heart and make it yours
take my world all apart
take it now, take it now
and serve the ones that I despise
speak the words I can't deny
watch the world I used to love
fall to dust and thrown away
I look beyond the empty cross
forgetting what my life has cost
so wipe away the crimson stains
and dull the nails that still remain
so steal my heart and take the pain
take the selfish, take the weak
and all the things I cannot hide
take the beauty, take my tears
take my world apart, take my world apart
I pray, I pray, I pray
take my world apart
"Worlds Apart"
I am the only one to blame for this
Somehow it all ends up the same
Soaring on the wings of selfish pride
I flew too high and like Icarus I collide
With a world I try so hard to leave behind
To rid myself of all but love

*This is from a blog I wrote in July*
There's this song I've heard quite a lot on the radio lately (Shine FM). My interpretation of what it's saying is that we need to have no regrets, forget about what happened yesterday or in years past and live our lives for today, for the future, and most importantly for God.
One of my favourite lines in the song is 'The hardest part is forgiving yourself, but let's take a walk into today and don't let your past get in the way'. Why is it so hard for us to forgive ourselves for things we have done when, if we just ask for it with total sincerity, God will forgive us. We don't need to forgive ourselves because we have been given a greater gift - God's forgiveness.
Gods love can make history of your past. He forgives us our indiscretions and when He forgives, He forgets too!! But you know that God is not done yet. Every second of your life that passes after that forgivness is history in the making. Wouldn't it be great to live your lives waiting for God to do something great with your life?
I don't know about you, but God has done some pretty amazing things with my life already. I can't wait for Him to open my eyes to what's next.
Here are the lyrics to this awesome song by Matthew West.
Enjoy...

HISTORY by Matthew West
http://www.matthewwest.com/
It's been a bad day, you've been looking back
And all you can see is everything you wish you could take back
All your mistakes, a world of regrets
All of those moments you would rather forget
I know it's hard to believe
Let me refresh your memory
Chorus:
Yesterday is history
And history is miles away
So leave it all behind you
Let it always remind you of the day
The day that love made history
You know you can't stay right where you fell
The hardest part is forgiving yourself
But let's take a walk into today
And don't let your past get in the way
Repeat chorus
Would you believe that you are history
In the making, in the making
Every choice that you are making
Every step that you are taking
Every chain that you are breaking
History is in the making
Every word that you are saying
Every prayer that you are praying
Every chain that you are breaking
History is in the making
It was great to see you all this past Sunday. You're doing good things so keep it up!
Also, Jars of Clay's Good Monsters is the best Christian CD I've heard. Period.
John
This sin't really a poem, but is written so beautifully and effectively, I think it will fit in here. This is one of my favorite writings and always makes me more aware of Jesus' nature. I hope you enjoy it:)
"You could read the passagea thousand times and never catch it. You could meditate on Johns' account of Jesus' ressurection for hours and still not come away with this particular thought. It's so subtle that you might never find it. In fact, I'm convinced I would have never seen it had it not been for my wife pointing it out to me. We were sitting in church while the passage was read, and she reached over and put her finger on my Bible, bringing a phrase to my attention. "I've never noticed that before," I told her. Neither had she. See if you can find the words she pointed out.
" Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side." (John 20:6-7)
Does anything stand out? Any phrase seem to jump out at you? Let me narrow it down. " The loth that had covered Jesus' head was FOLDED UP." When the disciples looked into the empty tomb of Jesus, what was the first thing they saw? They saw His head cloth "folded up" on the seat where Jesus once lay. It wasn't thrown across the room in victory, it wasn't lying in a heap on the floor; it was neatly folded and placed on the bench. Does this speak to you like it does to me? It must have made an impact on John, since he took the time to record it.
Jesus comes back to life after everything that He has been through, and He takes the time to fold His sheets? Jesus bursts through the gates of hell, steals the key, deals Satan a fatal blow, then finishes the act by rising victoriously from the grave, and then what does He do next? Does he pump His fist in victory? Does He shove the stone away with Supernatural might and claim His authority to the guards? No. He sits on the bench and waits for the angel.
Doesn't that speak volumes about the character of Jesus? Isn't that the way you like to picture Him? I know I do. Jesus was a man of unlimited power and strength, yet he lived with incredible humility and restraint. He didn't come to show us how mighty and omnipotent He is- He cam to complete a mission."
